Dental implants the best and most reliable, long-term answer to replace lost or damaged teeth. Dental implants can be used not only to replace one or more missing teeth, but also a full set of upper or lower teeth.

Thanks to a revolutionary dental implant technique that was invented in Europe, patients can have permanent dental implant supported non-removable teeth all in one day. This new technique is called the All on Four. With this new procedure it is possible to remove damaged or infected teeth, place four dental implants, and then attach teeth to the implants all in a single day. The All on Four procedure is even possible for patients with advanced bone loss or missing teeth.

How is All-on-4 implant technique different?

Customarily, six to ten dental implants per arch were used to anchor a full set of upper or lower teeth when completely restoring a patient’s teeth. This technique often needed large bone grafting or sinus augmentation to dental implant placement. Bone grafting is expensive and severely delays the patient receiving the permanent restorations.

In stark contrast with the All on Four procedure, only four dental implants are needed to restore a full set of upper and lower teeth.

A minimum of four dental implants are required. Thus, the best existing bone is selected for the implants. Two dental implants are placed in the anterior jaw bone and two dental implants are placed in the posterior. The posterior dental implants are deliberately tilted to bypass the sinus in the upper jaw and mandibular nerve in the lower jaws. Furthermore, this tilting of the implant allows longer implants to be placed. The longer the implant the more bone the implant can engage. The dental implants are very secure at the time of surgery because of the dense anterior bone and the extra bone engaged in the posterior. Patients are able to have teeth screwed into the implants and leave with cosmetic and functional teeth.

It is important to note that the teeth attached at the time of surgery are only the temporary teeth. After the bone heals and gum tissue contours settle in a new more robust set of teeth will be made. This second set of teeth will utilize a titanium substructure that links the implants together to deliver incredible strength.

The All on Four dental implant procedure is a highly specialized technique and much different from the traditional implant procedures. That is why it is very important to choose the right dentist that has the experience in working with the All on Four protocol. Do not be afraid to ask questions and obtaining a second opinion.
